Louis Baker is notorious for writing heart-wrenching, soul-stirring ballads, with his own blend of jazz, funk and R&B. His latest album, [*Trouble*](https://www.emptyspaces.co.nz/louis-baker-to-hit-the-road-with-new-self-produced-album-trouble-on-the-way/), bears these same hallmarks and somehow takes the listener even deeper. Released today, *Trouble* sees Louis confronting himself, reflecting on two years of personal growth, creativity and observations of the world.

Of the album, he has to say:

> **“*Trouble* is a snapshot into the last two years of creating, writing, learning and my observations of the world and self. Even though I've been in this game for a while now, part of me feels like I'm just getting started.”**

A proud Wellingtonian, the album was recorded at Baker's studio in Titahi Bay and features contributions from a number of respected Te Whanganui-a-Tara musicians, including Cory Champion, Louisa Williamson, Rikki Gooch, James Illingworth, Johnny Lawrence, Iris Little, Leo Coghini and Tristan Carter. It was mixed by Ben Lawson and mastered by Josh Llewellyn of Downbeat Mastering.

The release marks Baker's second studio album and comes ahead of his first headline shows since 2021, with a [nine-date tour ](https://www.louisbaker.co.nz/?ref=emptyspaces.co.nz)across Aotearoa in October and November.
