Elliott Dawson isn’t one to play it safe. Following the success of Quarter Life and Calling Time, the Pōneke artist delivers Speaking Frankly—a brass-fueled, groove-heavy reckoning with grudges, forgiveness, and the absurdity of it all. It’s the last glimpse of his upcoming album Certain Death, out April 4, 2025.
Produced by Wellington’s James Goldsmith (DARTZ, Wiri Donna, Mermaidens), Certain Death is Dawson at his most raw. “Some things should stay buried, but this record felt like digging up my own remains,” he admits. The album, now available for pre-order on Bandcamp and Flying Out, marks a bold new era—one where mortality takes the spotlight, and Dawson’s sonic world keeps expanding.
Speaking Frankly is out now. Certain Death lands April 4.
