Emerging from Aotearoa with sharp pen and open heart, Jude Kelly delivers her debut EP The Seven Spirits of Her — a raw, reflective, and beautifully constructed coming-of-age soundtrack that wears its wounds and wisdom like badges of honour.
Written over the past two years and produced by local heavyweights Josh Fountain (BENEE, Ruel) and Devin Abrams, the EP unfolds like a diary cracked open under soft lighting — each track capturing a different shade of emotion: from love to grief, disillusionment to hard-earned grace.
“It’s almost an audio biopic,” says Jude. “These are questions I asked when I was 15, finally answered.”
Jude’s voice floats between worlds — part folk-pop, part indie daydream — with storytelling that recalls the likes of Florence Welch or Kacey Musgraves, but with a uniquely grounded New Zealand spirit. At its heart is ‘Lucky’, a stripped-back highlight that reflects on quiet contentment and the privilege of dreaming, especially from this corner of the world.
Released via The Orchard, The Seven Spirits of Her features early singles Bonnet Bunny, Siren Song, and the much-hyped Clarence.
