Following a sold-out release show, Te Whanganui-a-Tara artist Tempers returns with her third single Higher Ground, out April 8. A gentle, 70s folk-inspired track, Higher Ground offers a softer side to her upcoming EP Good Woman, blending poetic lyrics with warm live instrumentation.
Written as a kind-of love song, it opens with the refrain: I write love songs in the morning, I write love songs in the day, I’ll sing to you tomorrow, if I make it through today.
The track was recorded live at Surgery Studios with producer Lee Prebble and an all-star folk band, and mixed by Brooke Singer and Chris Armour. Good Woman is due May 2025 on Home Alone and explores the complexities of womanhood through Tempers’ evocative songwriting.
