Evie Bamford finds calm resolve with lush indie single Through the Day

After the offbeat charm of her debut Money Bag, Tāmaki Makaurau based songwriter Evie Bamford shares Through the Day, a track that drifts with reflection and slow-burning resolve.

Self produced and rich in texture, the song folds indie rock guitars around cello, clarinet and soft vocal harmonies, creating a warm and spacious arrangement. Lush guitar chords glide across the mix while Bamford’s vocals sit slightly back, relaxed and unhurried. The delivery carries a gentle aloofness that mirrors the song’s central idea. Some days ask for little more than endurance.

That idea circles a simple refrain. “I’m just trying to get through the day.” The line repeats with quiet determination, grounding the track as the arrangement gradually opens around it.

The single also marks a creative shift. Bamford has described the track as the first moment her songwriting fully captured the sound she had been chasing for years. With contributions from Gemma Henderson on cello, James MacEwan on clarinet and harmonies, alongside Jeremy Richardson on drums, Rory Johns on keys and Hugo Butler on bass, the result is layered and lived in.

Mixed by Tom Broome and mastered by Josh Llewellyn at Downbeat Mastering, Through the Day settles into its mood rather than chasing drama, a small act of resilience set to sound.
