Sabreen reimagines ‘The End’ with a new Arabic collaboration
Auckland artist Sabreen has released a new version of her 2025 single ‘The End’, this time reworked through a collaboration with Palestinian artist and activist Rana Hamida.
‘The End (Arabic Version)’ expands on the original song, digging into grief, and connection - combining South Asian and Palestinian musical influences into a highly personal release. Produced by Nate Selway, the track layers oud, baglama, tabla and sitar across Sabreen’s songwriting, with the addition of Rana Hamida’s Arabic vocals adding new depth to the track.
The song also includes a recitation of Mahmoud Darwish’s poem Forgotten As If You Never Were, further grounding the release in Palestinian culture.
For Sabreen, the release continues a growing body of work shaped by activism, and identity. Proudly Bangladeshi and Muslim, the Auckland raised singer-songwriter makes music that draws from personal experience and cultural history.
The release also leads into Sabreen’s next chapter with an upcoming second EP, due in 2026. The project will include previous singles ‘The End’ and ‘Countryman’ alongside new material produced with Nate Selway.
Since releasing her debut EP room service in 2023, Sabreen has performed across Aotearoa, opened for Prateek Kuhad and earned recognition through the International Songwriting Competition, the YWCA Y25 awards and the University of Auckland Blues Awards.
