After over two years, surely romiin's absence has made the heart grow fonder
Silky smooth beats, undeniable hooks and clean feel-good production. For a self-confessed pop nerd, the latest track from Auckland based DJ/producer/artist romiin is quite simply what dreams are made of. Already with a reputation for slick R&B jams, one at a time see's the artist take a deeper dive, delving into highly personal subject matter - notably the subject of relationships and the nuances of life in close quarters with another.
'I don't wanna lose my mental' the chorus echos, a familiar feeling for anyone who has experienced the frustration of an argument with no resolution. But what can be done about it? For romiin it's getting to the point of a make or break as the song goes on to consider the long term sustainability of such a situation.
The single is a return to releasing music for romiin who had been absent of fresh material for over two years. After the success of earlier releases including a feature with MTV Upload Australia, surely absence makes the heart grow founder? Maybe that's the solution needed by the couple in the song... I'm certainly not a dating expert. But I rate the song, and maybe you will too.
