The majority of bands have around three to five members. Wellington outfit Raw Collective are on a different scale all together. Eight musicians throwing their full force into a sound big enough to stretch across genres. Their latest release In The Clouds is an ode to growth and change.

Blending hip hop, funk, soul and R&B, the track travels through threaded rap verses, warm harmonies and a groove that builds to a full-band jam. Horns, guitars, percussion and keys provide a rich live feel, with vocal hooks that anchor it all.

Produced by Raw Deezy, In The Clouds was built from a raw demo recording that became a long distance pursuit of musical craft with members recording parts remotely from across Aotearoa.

Lyrically, the single draws from uncertainty, growth and staying grounded through change. It mirrors the band’s journey over recent years as members balanced music alongside parenthood and shifting priorities.

Marking an ambitious return - In The Clouds kicks off a new chapter for Raw Collective ahead of more singles and a full-length album later this year.
