Empty Spaces announces industry subscription to support a circular economy in Aotearoa music
AUCKLAND, NZ - Independent music platform Empty Spaces has announced a new subscription model designed to strengthen support for local music journalism while creating a more connected and sustainable ecosystem for artists and industry.
The Industry tier, priced at NZ$40 per month, is built for publicists, promotors, managers and labels working across the music sector. It offers practical value for those actively releasing and promoting music, while helping fund independent editorial coverage in Aotearoa.
Subscribers to the Industry tier will receive priority music submissions, giving their releases a clearer path for editorial review and consideration across Empty Spaces’ growing platform.
The subscription is a move toward what could be described as a circular economy model within the music industry, where the people creating, releasing, and promoting music directly invest in the media spaces that help amplify and connect it with an audience.
As independent music journalism faces growing pressure across New Zealand and abroad, the model aims to create a system that keeps coverage accessible, supports emerging artists, and helps sustain local storytelling.
Empty Spaces has built its audience around championing New Zealand music, industry insight, and culture. This new subscription tier is part of a wider effort to keep that work moving while deepening ties with the people shaping the scene.
The Empty Spaces Industry subscription does not guarantee editorial coverage, placement, or influence over our editorial decisions. This tier is designed as a support model for record labels, publicists, promoters, and managers who want a direct submission pathway as part of their release process. Artists can continue to submit music for editorial consideration through our existing free channels. All coverage across Empty Spaces remains subject to the same editorial standards and independent review process.
The Industry subscription is available now.
