For Kiwi artists, Australia offers the potential for a larger audience and culture that is close to home. Sydney-based Kiwi collective SUB-TRIBE have released their six-track MANA EP, marking a new chapter with Loop Recordings. The release sees the group push their roots reggae and dub sound even further into electronic and bass music.

The EP follows the release of ‘Te Waka’ featuring Casual Healing, which topped the Te Reo Māori Radio Airplay Charts for more than 13 weeks. With MANA, SUB-TRIBE weave te reo Māori and their Aotearoa whakapapa into a sound that draws on tradition while looking towards the future.

Since forming in 2017, SUB-TRIBE have built a following across Aotearoa and Australia, where they are now based. The release follows a sold-out seven-show Australian tour and performances alongside SIX60, with the collective also set to appear at Electric Avenue and Homegrown in 2027.

MANA represents a definitive era for the group. One that brings their roots in Māori storytelling and dub into a new phase with one of Aotearoa’s key independent record labels.
